Dates and Anniversaries....

Anniversaries and Jubilees... Reading those two words, if you're a party lover, you might have felt that 'excitement' of hosting a special celebration! And if you're committed, especially if you're a guy, it might have sent a shiver down your spine! Especially if you've been committed long enough, the list of the type of gifts as per the number of years, is something that you probably have stored in your notes! First year paper, second year cotton... Well, I'm no subject matter expert at that, so I'll leave that list to be completed/googled by you! So, what's the big fuss about these anniversaries? How important is a date to us? Ever wondered?

This Independence Day...

Let us not make tryst with our destiny… not any more... Fifteenth August  - The Independence Day of our country! The one day that we take, in an entire year, to remember our past! To remember our great freedom fighters… their struggles… to acknowledge them… and to acknowledge their efforts... Every Independence Day speech or program that we come across, is somehow about the past! Fancy dress competitions for kids about the past heroes… Speeches stating how India has been so great… All of them have references about the past! But, is Independence Day all about acknowledging the past? Is this the only motive that we should have to celebrate our Independence Day? Is this how we should celebrate our Independence?

Kalam...

Kalam... A Scientist, An Educationalist, A President... A Genius, A Visionary, A Nationalist... A Professor, An Author, A Patriot... A Bharat Ratna... Kalam... The Missile Man... The People's President... We shall remember this humble soul for a million reasons... We shall remember him because we love him... Because we respect him, his works, his vision... But Don't!

Being 16...

Since forever, sixteen, as an age, has been considered as the time when a young one 'blooms'... 'Blooms' in the sense that they reach an age when they can comprehend the good and the bad, and in the sense that they are romantically excited! Sixteen or not... This post is especially for all those hopeless romantics out there, who are truly forever 'Only 16!' It is a basic trend... (I call it basic because I cannot call it recent nor traditional since this trend is an ever-prevailing one!). It is a basic trend amongst kids, no wait, adults! No teenagers! Lets just say hopeless romantics!! It is a basic trend amongst hopeless romantics to 'date' - to be in nonchalant relationships... In your teenage, these often end due to reasons like "It's our Tenth (or Twelfth) std... We need to focus on studies" or "You're too serious about it! I'm not ready for it" and blah blah! (You know! You've been through some relationship...

The Delusions of Religion...

"I don't try to imagine a personal God; it suffices to stand in awe at the structure of the world, insofar as it allows our inadequate senses to appreciate it." -ALBERT EINSTEIN   Religion is one subject that anyone can indefinitely speculate about... You don't need to believe in it, you don't need to follow it, you don't need to have mastered in it. Religion is merely a perspective. The religion you choose to follow is simply the way you choose to look at life, to look at humanity, to look at this world.... It is the way you choose to look at this universe. Ironically, our humankind has come to a state that forces me to rephrase... Religion is not merely a perspective. The religion chosen for you, to follow, is simply the way, chosen for you, to be looked at in life, by the whole of humanity. It defines the way the world will perceive you. Your religion is how this universe is going to function around you. You were born in this religion and th...

Different characters you’ll meet in college

Disclaimer: All the characters, incidents and places in this article are fictitious. Resemblance to any person living or dead or any incident or place is purely coincidental! 1. The pretentious leader: He is probably the CR of your class! He just loves to think that he can make anyone dance to his tunes. Like he is the supreme authority! But every one of us knows that we’d hate to be in those shoes! Collecting assignments, maintaining lists… Grr…! Nevertheless, the kind of enthusiasm they show for responsibility is just applaud-able! *insert sound clip: applause

The Bandits of Holy Land

If you've ever been to India and visited any of its "holy" places, you wouldn't find it difficult to relate to this article. Got dragged into memories?  So, how much money were you robbed of? I mean how much money did you unnecessarily put into that guy's pocket? That guy - the guy who was following you since the moment you entered the temple premise, that very same guy who kept instructing you about where to go, what to do... All until he reached a shop and prepared a grand basket of offerings to The Lord! A 300 rupee garland made of half dried flowers, a shawl, some  prasad  material, some coconuts, an Audi car, a beach house in Miami... Oh wait the last two weren't put into the basket! He just put their cost in your bill!!

Margarita with Salt...

It takes some love, some joy, some sorrow, some pain and an infinite amount of patience to get through life. You must wait - for the right time, for the right person, for the right opportunity... It is only patience that will get you through your life. Not just get through - Patience is what will give you the ability to understand, to appreciate and to enjoy life. My life taught me life. People are temporary, your feelings for them are temporary, you are temporary... however what you feel for yourself - THAT is real, THAT is forever...
